If I am Charged with Reckless Driving, Will I Have a Permanent Criminal Conviction?

Clients will contact me after being charged after reckless driving, which is a charge that’s used very often in New York City. They ask me if they’re going to have a permanent criminal conviction or record as a result, and the answer is: maybe. It’s very important if you’re charged with reckless driving, which is a misdemeanor under the laws of the State of New York, that you get that charge reduced, because conviction of reckless driving does carry with it a permanent criminal record. Very often, we’re able to get that charge reduced.
Reckless driving comes with five points on your license which is an awful lot of points to get in one shot. If you get a ticket, or are charged otherwise with reckless driving, it’s very important that you speak to a lawyer who’s experienced in handling those types of charges, because a reduction is absolutely required to avoid a criminal record and to avoid the imposition of five points on your license.
